Moving A House
Moving, whether it is your house or your place of work, can be a traumatic experience. For those of us who have a hard time with “change”, a move can leave one feeling devastated. Here are some tips and advice to help make your move as smooth, easy and painless as possible.
Moving requires sound preparation in order to prevent nasty surprises at later stages. The preparation can be a difficult task and requires patience. It is worth every bit of the effort.
Local moving
A move within one hundred miles is considered to be a local move and should be billed as such. Local moves are billed on an hourly basis, whereas longer distances are charged according to the amount and weight of goods being transported.
How do you start? As with everything these days, the internet is a good place. Put the word ‘Moving’ into your search engine and you will be directed to many sites on the subject of moving. Choose one site and look for reputable movers in your area. From one such firm you can obtain an estimate quickly and easily. Now you have an idea of the costs of your move and you can start working from there.
There are different levels of service you can choose from for your local move.
o You hire a full-service mover to pack, load, transport, unload, and unpack your belongings.
o You choose to do some of the work yourself.
o You rent a vehicle and do the entire move on your own, or
o You hire someone else to do the packing, loading, and unpacking or transport portions of the move.
Whatever route you decide to take for your local move, a good moving website will help you organize all facets from the beginning to the end.
If you decide to have the moving service pack and load your goods for you, make sure you are present during this process so that you can give them any guidance on particular items. Decide, together with the movers who will be supplying the boxes and other needs. If you are to be the supplier, be sure the items are waiting for the movers when they arrive at your house. Do some research and planning before beginning your move to save you time and energy during the actual move.
